鼠年是用“rat”還是“mouse”呢?
鼠年，向外國人介紹中國生肖時，我們不免想到一個問題，鼠年到底用“Year of the Rat”還是“Year of the Mouse”呢?
那么首先，我們要知道Mouse和Rat到底有沒有區別 。
其實，二者確實有區別 。Mouse一般指體型較小(一般長12-20cm)，耳朵較大的老鼠，而Rat則一般指那些體型較大(一般長40cm以上)，耳朵較小的老鼠 。
那么在文化使用中，這兩個詞有什么區別呢?
一般來說，Mouse沒有負面含義，如可愛的Mickey mouse用的就是Mouse這個詞 。而Rat常有貶義，詞義本來就可以指卑鄙小人和叛徒，如rat on這個詞組意為背叛、告發 。
這么說來，我們應該說“Year of the Mouse”嗎?也不一定，今年各大網站、品牌都使用Year of the Rat, 連央視英文頻道也用的Year of the Rat 。
但其實說Year of the Mouse也是正確的，但大家在生肖中使用的是Year of the Rat，于是大家就習慣使用這種說法了 。
