雅思聽力中不可忽視的否定詞

原文：
OFFICER: okay… do you have any preference for a family with children or without children?
STUDENT: I prefer… I mean I like young children, but I’d like to be with older people… you know…adults…someone around my age.
OFFICER: okay, and what about pets?
STUDENT: I am a veterinarian so that’s fine… the more the better.
解析：第6題的答案應該是“(young) children”, 但是很多同學都會寫成“older people”或者“adults” 。因為他們在聽錄音時，聽到了轉折信號詞“but”, 然后又聽到了表示肯定的“I’d like to”, 于是很自然的覺得這之后就是正確答案。而實際上，題目中的“no”表明，這里需要填的是說話者不想要的東西，所以答案并不是but后面表示肯定的部分。
第7題的答案應該是“pets” 。這題的關鍵依然是題目中的否定詞“no”, 但是不少同學不認識“objection”, 實際上這是一個雙重否定。objection表示反對，no objection表示的是“不反對” 。這里同樣要注意的是“veterinarian”這個詞，很多同學把這個詞和“vegetarian”搞混了。veterinarian是獸醫的意思，vegetarian是素食主義者的意思。說話人自稱是個獸醫，才會說對于pets, the more the better 。
除了“no”之外，同樣常見的否定詞便是“not”了。

不過，我們審題時需要注意的否定詞顯然并不只有no和not, 有的時候，它們隱藏得更深。比如下面這幾道真題：

以上真題中的否定詞分別是：without, against, few以及lack, 表示的都是否定。我們需要注意的是，否定詞往往在原文中都會同義轉換。比如6-4-4Q34中的very few在原文中轉換成了not many; 6-14Q33中的lack在原文中就轉換成了fewer 。
