在翻譯或寫作時，我們經常用到“準時”，很多情況下，我們直接將它翻譯為on time ， 而表達“及時”，往往用in time 。其實，“準時”還有一些其他說法，需要注意 。
一、on schedule（美）
表示恰好在規定的時間 。
（1）The alarm clock woke him up on schedule. 鬧鐘準時將他鬧醒 。
二、on the dot/on the tick（英）
dot由鐘表面代表鐘點數的小點轉義而來，tick由鐘行走時的滴答聲轉義得來 。
（2）The plane took off at seven on the tick/dot. 飛機在七點鐘準時起飛 。
三、on the stroke
stroke表示報時的鐘聲 。
（3）He was here on the stroke. 他準時來到這里 。
四、介詞to + 名詞
to the minute、to the moment、to the tick都屬于這一類 。
（4）He always comes to the very moment. 他總是來得十分準時 。
五、具體時間+sharp/prompt

六、punctual/punctually
表示條約性的嚴守時刻 。
（6）He makes it a point of being punctual every day for his work. 他決定每天準時上班 。

（8）He is punctual. You could set your watch by him. 他很準時，你可以按他來校正手表的時間 。
