although作連詞，意思是雖然;盡管;即使;不過;然而 。although引導的從句放在主句前后均可，有時還可放在句中 。although引導的從句不能與but、however連用，但可與yet、still連用 。

不能說：Although he was old, but he worked hard. 應把but去掉 。當然，保留but而去Although也可 。

2、although有什么用法
1.表示對比，“雖然” 。
eg: Although he is not smart, he works harder than his classmates.
雖然他不聰明，但他比他的同學都要用功 。
2. 表示驚奇或出乎意料，“雖然” 。
eg: He can do most of the housework, although he is only five years old.
【although的用法】雖然他才五歲，他會做大部分家務活 。
3. 表示讓步，“盡管，即使” 。
eg: My father is still working outside, although it is very hot.
盡管天氣很熱，我的爸爸還在外面勞作 。
4.表示轉折，“不過;然而” 。
eg: I didn’t agree with him, although I didn’t speak out my opinion at once.
我不同意他的看法，不過我并沒有馬上說出我的想法 。
