看到Why not/why don't you 時我們第一反應是「為什么不...」, 自然而然理解為一種「反問」，所以我們使用時通常也只有如下用法：
This option doesn't work. Why not try another? 這個方法行不通，為什么不試試另一個呢?
- I'm going to buy an iPhone 8.
- Why not buy an iPhone XR? 怎么不買iPhone XR呢?
- You'd better not go out tonight.
- Why not? 為什么不行?
在我們的文化中，反問很容易讓人聯想到質疑，it's a fine line, 稍有不慎就讓人感覺不舒服，所以并不是一種很禮貌的行為，像是一個很bossy人嘮叨為什么不這樣，為什么不那樣，所以我們在需要表示尊敬的場合都不會用。
但在英語里，Why not/Why don't并不只有字面上「反問」的意思，還可以表達「(非常)贊同」、「建議」，反而是一種較禮貌的說法。
比如很多時候，老外就直接把Why not當Yes用，用句號結尾，而不是問號。

第二種情況是表示「建議」，是一種商量的語氣，= How about/What about, 也大膽放心用就好。
很多廣告就喜歡用Why not來引誘顧客。看下面這個廣告大家就知道了Why not在這里并沒有反問之意，而是指「快來體驗一下吧」，建議語氣。

顯然是建議的語氣，翻譯是很正的，沒有直譯成「你明天為什么不帶他來」。
最后再提醒一句，Why not/Why don't you是表示將來的事情，如果要表示過去，就要用Why didn't you 。當責備別人過去為什么沒做某事時要用 Why didn't you.
